The governments are wanting to be able to break this type of cryptocurrency since it's classified as a "privacy coin". Other privacy coins could include Zcash and a few others, but Monero (XMR) is definitely the most known and probably the strongest (according to a lot of the community). Typically though, these types of privacy coins are used for illicit purposes and illegal activity, such as drugs, weapons, and child pornography.

Monero was also thought to be created partially by "Satoshi Nakamoto". There are a total of 7 developers initially on the project, but 5 of them remain anonymous. The idea is that the network relies on TOTAL TRUST and anonymity.

Monero (XMR) also recently broke the tie with Bitcoin over the last few days. The upgrade to the new network is likely what caused this decoupling. In any case, the chart set-up looks great, and we're seeing new higher highs and higher lows for a better uptrend.
