We talk all the time on this channel about the many popular cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin, ether and dogecoin.

But 2 emerging altcoins are looking to join the conversation thanks to their recent performance, Cardano and Solana.

We’ve talked about Cardano, but it recently made headlines for being the 3rd largest cryptocurrency and more than doubling in value.

Solana has done even better, tripling in value just over the past month, and new data from MejoresApuestas.com showed Solana, Dogecoin and Cardano were the fastest-growing cryptos this year.

Meanwhile, a new cryptocurrency called wifedoge, which is billing itself as the 'wife' of Dogecoin, is gaining momentum and even got a cosign from the Dogefather himself, Elon Musk.

Last week on August 31, the Wifedoge exceeded $2.32 million in market capitalization, a figure 3,294.29% higher than the 68,350 dollars with which it began on Monday morning.

The new memecoin is trying desperately to get the support of Tesla CEO Elon Musk: "We will give them to you at the right time, otherwise 5% of the tokens will be forever blocked."

While the price has gone down since then, it’s worth noting that this new cryptocurrency could shoot right back up soon, especially if it gets a full endorsement from Elon Musk.

Finally, after an incredible week that saw bitcoin skyrocket above $52,000, news of today’s bitcoin launch in El Salvador plunged the worlds most popular crypto to just over $46,000 by today’s end.

El Salvado became the first country to adopt bitcoin, which means that citizens in the country can choose to use Bitcoin as payment and businesses must accept it in exchange for goods and services.

Leah Wald, CEO at Valkyrie Investments explained: “Transaction fees, processing times, and other hurdles also make this feel more like a beta test rather than a solution to many of the problems plaguing the country’s poor.”

She continued: “What is most worth looking out for is whether or not neighboring countries in Latin America, or those elsewhere around the world, begin to adopt bitcoin as their national currency as well. Should this occur, that is when we could see a parabolic move higher.”

I’m sure that El Salvador won’t be the last country to use bitcoin, but it looks like it is certainly paying the price for being the first nation to adopt the largest cryptocurrency by market cap as legal tender.
