After the IPO of Bitcoin mining hardware producer Ebang (EBON) in the US last week, we revisit a recent mining report from BitMEX Research – “The Battle for Asic Supremecy”.

The mining hardware incumbents look to be in a tough spot; Canaan has had a string of negative news and looks to have largely burnt through the $90M it raised from its IPO, while Bitmain looks to have given up a lot of market share as internal struggles and strategic blunders take their toll on the company. MicroBT may be one of the potential winners of this shakeup, launching competitive products and taking market share from incumbents.
