Since the beginning of the year, the Shiba Inu token has recorded massive interest from the crypto community with its staggering market cap, drawing many eyeballs in less than one year of creation. Part of this interest was fueled by the ETH founder Vitalik burning half of the Shiba Inu token in circulation in May. While this is mere speculation, nothing concrete yet but every indication shows that the Shiba Inu token will be burned on Shiba Swap's launch date to the general public. If the Shiba burn happened as planned on this date, it would be the second time this token will be burned.
Vitalik Buterin, the Ethereum blockchain technology and cryptocurrency co-founder, burned 410 trillion Shiba Inu tokens in May 2021.

The billionaire Canadian-Russian programmer was gifted more than half of all Shiba Inu tokens in existence by the Shiba Inu founder Ryoshi in an attempt to reduce the number of this token in circulation. Buterin has since made headlines by giving away huge amounts of cryptocurrency. In May, he donated more than 50 trillion Shiba Inu tokens—at the time worth around $1 billion—to a COVID-19 relief fund in India. Also, Buterin burned a further 410 trillion of his Shiba Inu tokens—worth around $6.5 billion—taking them out of circulation. The transaction, made on that date May 16th, 2021, can be viewed on Etherscan, which keeps track of Ethereum transactions. In a note attached to another transaction he had made, Buterin said he had decided to burn 90 percent of his total Shiba Inu portfolio and send the other 10 percent to a charity he had not yet decided upon, according to Coindesk.
