In this video, I discuss falling Bitcoin dominance and whether this is even a significant metric.
It doesn't make sense to include USD stablecoins when measuring total market share of Bitcoin vs. other cryptocurrencies, since they are designed to not appreciate, but rather to depreciate at the same rate as the USD itself.
Bitcoin dominance typically falls in bull markets, then rises again in bear markets. At the same time, the list of altcoin competitors changes over the years, while Bitcoin remains the same.
Bitcoin has the largest market cap, deepest liquidity, most institutional interest, first mover advantage, and unchangeable properties including a credible long-term monetary policy.
By contrast, alts like Ethereum are constantly changing their marketing and their use case, as well as their monetary policy.
BTC is the only cryptocurrency that had a fair launch and that is not centralized.
"Store of value" is a winner take all category in the digital age, and Bitcoin is poised to win this category. It is the largest category in the universe, since all present wealth and future wealth will eventually find its way into Bitcoin.
