Filecoin just launched their mainnet and it has been.. a pretty bad launch. Filecoin miners have spent millions of dollars on Filecoin FIL mining rigs to decentralize data storage. Filecoin raised over 200m dollars in 2017, and have potentially engaged in a scammy trade to possibly raise another 300m dollars by sending 1.5m Filecoin FIL to OkEx and Huobi. Filecoin requires you to be staking their coins FIL in order to be mining on their mainnet, and the problem is how do you stake coins unless you go out and buy them? Being an early adopter to support a blockchain and then forced into buying their coins in order to actually mine it, all after they raised hundreds of millions of dollars... it's basically like theyre double or triple dipping..
