The riots happening all over the nation are sure to bring out the mainstream economists claiming some variation of the "broken window fallacy." Krugman is most famous for his spin, claiming that an alien invasion hoax would stimulate the economy. They are ignorant of common sense financial concepts like Opportunity Cost. Destruction of property does not stimulate the economy. In reality, it destroys wealth.
