Japan Is Worried As China Pushes On With Their Digital Currency
China continues to pull ahead in the central bank digital currency race as more details on its digital yuan project surface. As a result, more countries are beginning to worry about the potential implications. Over the past few weeks, a number of Japanese lawmakers have publicly expressed their preference for a CBDC controlled by the Bank of Japan. The general idea is to counter the soon-to-be-released digital yuan from neighboring China and prevent it from disrupting the global economy.

According to an all-new report, banking giant JP Morgan is currently in the process of facilitating a merger of its in-house blockchain unit called Quorum with Ethereum-based software developer ConsenSys. The deal is currently under negotiation and is likely to be finalized by the end of Q3 2020.

University of Wyoming (UW), one of the most crypto-friendly public universities in the U.S. has received a gift of $500,000 in Cardano Tokens. The IOHK donation aims at supporting the university’s blockchain research activities, particularly the UW IOHK Advanced Blockchain Research and Development Laboratory domiciled in UW’s Cybersecurity Research Center.

The Ethereum browser wallet Metamask reaches a million user milestone the million user target has come along with a spike in Ethereum transactions which have doubled from 400k to 800k in less than a month according to trustnodes. The report added that gas usage had also surged to their highest levels since September while transaction fees have remained low. Network fundamentals are improving elsewhere with hash rate climbing again to a two month high of 175 th/s.
