Bitcoin was further hit by China banning financial institutions and payment companies from providing services related to cryptocurrency transactions. The ban includes stopping services such as clearing and settlements, trading and even registration for cryptocurrencies. It also warned investors against speculative crypto trading.
Bitcoin's decline was sparked last week by Musk's reversal on Tesla taking bitcoin as payment, followed by other tweets that caused confusion over whether the carmaker had shed its holdings of the currency.
Adani Green Energy Ltd share price gained in early trade on Wednesday, locked in the 5 percent upper price band after the company announced the acquisition of SoftBank-backed SB Energy in a $3.5 billion deal.
Shares of Ujjivan Small Finance Bank (SFB) plunged 8.1 percent to hit an intra-day low of Rs 28 apiece on the BSE, a day after the company reported Q4 results in which the asset quality worsened in the March quarter.
The government is selling up to 58 million shares in Axis Bank, held via the Specified Undertaking of the Unit Trust of India (SUUTI) to raise around Rs 4,000 crore via offer for sale (OFS) route.
