ZebPay CEO Rahul Pagidipati and CMO Vikram Rangala had the chance to co-teach a course at the Meghnad Desai Academy of Economics called "Decoding Blockchain & Cryptocurrencies".
On the final day, Vikram gave a short keynote talk on Bitcoin as a form of satyagraha (nonviolent resistance).
He compared the 1930 Salt March, led by Mohandas Gandhi, to the creation of Bitcoin by Satoshi Nakamoto in 2009 and described some of the key elements of satyagraha:
• State the problem
• Make the current system show its flaws to the people
• Lower the barrier for people to join the movement
• Give people ways to take action and regain control
Bitcoin fits all these qualities and offers the world a way out of the current system of inflation, corruption, inequality, and man-made poverty.
The data shows that in the 20th century, nonviolent revolutions succeeded twice as often as violent ones.
Bitcoin, which was designed as a way to fight poverty, has a strong likelihood of succeeding, just like so many nonviolent struggles before it. We just have to patiently apply the principles.
