#3 Blockchain.com COO Xen Baynham-Herd on Crypto Exchange Industry, the Rise of DeFi and Stablecoins

Xen Baynham-Herd is the COO of Blockchain.com, one of the biggest players in the crypto industry. Their non-custodial web wallet has more than 40m users.

Question: Are you following the DeFi space?

Answer: "Absolutely, yeah. I personally think DeFi is extremely interesting. I guess DeFi represents the need to have true self-sovereignty over assets and money in a non-custodial way. So what it boils down to is robust private key management and so I think there are some fantastic opportunities out there but getting the basics right is very important and that's where most of our exploration lies, abstracting private keys away, making it easier to use non-custodial wallets and potentially also abstracting away addresses, making it easier to send to other people in a secure way."
